“Faileocons” no More?
Race Realism Breaks Through at Taki’s Magazine

The Paleoconservatives at Takimag.com seem to be taking a courageous turn toward engaging race realism. On May 20, 2009, Takimag published Jared Taylor’s “Whiteout,” on anti-white discrimination, along with Steve Sailer’s “White Pride is Uncool,” about why victims of anti-white discrimination excite little sympathy. They also re-published Paul Gottfried’s respectful essay on white nationalism, “The Limits of Race.” (Also, on May 19, Takimag published “Opening the Conservative Mind,” Gottfried’s positive review of white nationalist Kerry Bolton’s book Thinkers of the Right: Challenging Materialism.)
This is a welcome development, to be encouraged in every way possible. I have long regarded Paleoconservatives (and Paleolibertarians) as good people with good instincts — fellow travelers for 90 percent of the journey.
Where we part ways, though, is the question of what, ultimately, is the most important thing to conserve. For white nationalists, it is our race. For Paleocons, it usually amounts to some sort of abstraction that is universal in its aspirations if not its origins (Christianity, Western Civilization, etc.).
As a white nationalist, I regard whatever is good in Christianity and Western Civilization as products of our race. I am indifferent to their survival if there are no white people around to appreciate and develop them. Indeed, I would gladly sacrifice them if that were necessary to save the race that gave rise to them.
Fortunately, I do not think that such a choice would be necessary. But it is necessary for conservatives to get their priorities straight and defend the most important thing: our race. And to do that, we have to talk about race as race whenever that is possible, not use universalistic abstractions like Christianity or America or Western Civilization as circumlocutions and symbolic proxies.
The ancient Greeks regarded frank and fearless speech as the mark of a true gentleman. Apparently the same is true for the modern ones.

Well, there’s something to say about conserving certain ideals pertaining to Christianity, Western Civilization, etc. But these matters shouldn’t be considered to the exclusion of our own biological inheritance, racially and ethnically.
This has always been a source of deep dishonesty for paleos. They like to market themselves as curmudgeonly Rightist forefathers only to strike a pose of aristocratic [leftist] insouciance on matters of race and ethnicity. This is, of course, completely at variance with the attitudes of our actual forefathers, hence the dishonesty. Even now, Thomas Fleming of Chronicles has recently made noises about how the White race is just another collectivist abstraction (i.e. beneath him).
I certainly hope Takimag continues in the spirit of these recent articles. Many of the contributors there have openly expressed their disdain for movement conservatism (neo, social, fiscal, or otherwise), so it’s not entirely clear to me what they stand to lose by including more racialist thought.
Nope they’re still faileocons, and will remain faileocons until they start criticizing the Jews, rather than promoting Jews like Gottfried.

I too found it interesting that Taki posted those articles and have also noticed the increased criticism of the Stupid party and conservatives in general. I hope this is going to become a regular theme with the site, as well. I think it’s unfair to criticize TakiMag so soon. It’s a step in the right direction and one more sign that people are waking up.
I, too, am encouraged by respectful discussions about whites and inclusion of writers like Jared Taylor on Takimag. But I sense that Takimag, like The American Conservative, only dabbles in these issues to appear hip and edgy, and does not really intend to advocate for whites. You get the feeling, reading a (talented) writer like Richard Spencer, that the website is just too keen on preserving its cool to make the awkward step to the direct white advocacy of a publication like The Occidental Quarterly, American Renaissance, or websites like this one.
Mr. Theodoracoplous himself is an average writer with (I understand) plenty of inherited money who enjoys needling Jews from time to time , but never offers or endorses the sustained critique of their adverse influence that is an essential component of white advocacy.
I personally don’t think conservatism, libertarianism, the Republican Party, or any of the other “acceptable” forms of political engagement are as completely worthless as some white advocates make them out to be. The same goes for equivalent publications. But none of us should hold our breath waiting for the Takimag gang to lift the sword for whites.
Amazingly, I managed to misspell “Theodoracopolous.” Apologies.
It was not for nothing that those men, with their Ph.D.s and their Ivy League degrees, shut down their comments section because of, predominantly, my efforts to extract from them professed agreement to the absolute necessity for European Man to be. For all their pomp, their half-measures and half-truths could not stand up to the dialectical razor blade I wielded there. (The truth requiring that I dispense with modesty.)

Rubbish. We are a flesh-and-blood people. Proof proffered for Mr. Fleming:
“We have analyzed genetic data for 326 microsatellite markers that were typed uniformly in a large multiethnic
population-based sample of individuals as part of a study of the genetics of hypertension (Family Blood Pressure
Program). Subjects identified themselves as belonging to one of four major racial/ethnic groups (white, African
American, East Asian, and Hispanic) and were recruited from 15 different geographic locales within the United States
and Taiwan. Genetic cluster analysis of the microsatellite markers produced four major clusters, which showed
near-perfect correspondence with the four self-reported race/ethnicity categories. Of 3,636 subjects of varying race/
ethnicity, only 5 (0.14%) showed genetic cluster membership different from their self-identified race/ethnicity. On
the other hand, we detected only modest genetic differentiation between different current geographic locales within
each race/ethnicity group. Thus, ancient geographic ancestry, which is highly correlated with self-identified race/
ethnicity—as opposed to current residence—is the major determinant of genetic structure in the U.S. population.

Taki is, and should be, a highly-valued ally. He, and others, may not be as gung-ho as many would like, but there are not so many men who dare to speak and write Truth that we can quibble and parse their allegiance. I say hail, Taki, and a most hearty welcome to the cause!
