Richard Spencer Launches Alternative Right

I have been glued to the same website for hours today: Richard Spencer’s new webzine Alternative Right, which was launched on Monday, March 1 with an excellent lineup of articles by Richard Hoste, E. Christian Kopff, Kevin Deanna, Steve Sailer, Paul Gottfried, and Robert Weissberg, among others.
Perhaps the nicest thing I can say is that most of the articles are good enough to steal, beginning with Richard Hoste’s, which appears below. The site is also attractively designed, complete with video and audio features, not to mention coffee mugs and t-shirts.
I hope that Alternative Right will attract the brightest young conservatives and libertarians and expose them to far broader intellectual horizons, including race realism, White Nationalism, the European New Right, the Conservative Revolution, Traditionalism, neo-paganism, agrarianism, Third Positionism, anti-feminism, and right-wing anti-capitalists, ecologists, bioregionalists, and small-is-beautiful types.
Hoste’s article “Why an Alternative Right is Necessary” indicates that acknowledgment of Human Biodiversity (biological race and sex differences) have an important and secure place at Alternative Right. Steve Sailer’s article on “The Dispossessed Elite” indicates that Alternative Right will broach the Jewish question (having resolved my questions, I prefer to call it the Jewish problem). These are important advances on Taki’s Magazine (which, by the way, I still read regularly and enjoy).
The presence of articles by Robert Weissberg and Paul Gottfried indicates that Alternative Right is not a clone of TOQ or The Occidental Observer. (Not that anybody expected that, although some might applaud it.) But that is fine with me. It is more important to have a forum where our ideas interface with the mainstream that to have another Occidental something-or-other.com.
I urge all TOQ Online readers to put Alternative Right on your daily reading list. I predict it will rise rapidly toward the top. Congratulations Richard, and good luck.

Alternative Right may be able to make it possible to gather some of the best writing in the WA/paleocon spectrum for an intelligent mainstream audience.
TAC seems to being pushed in a muddy neocon direction.
Chronicles is fun to read, especially if you miss the 1300s and long for the reestablishment of the Holy Roman Empire. ’nuff said.
Amren has been completely hamstrung by avoiding the JQ.
Vdare‘s research is invaluable, but its baroque web design and lack of a positive ideology limits its value for a general readership.
And I suspect TOOand TOQ‘s forays into hardline racial materialism and paganism scare off many potential allies who could benefit from their work. Hopefully TOO and TOQ writers will appear on altRight.
Is it just the “presence” of Weissberg and Gottfried, or will it be the absence of any other view of the Jews? I trust the usual suspects will raise this matter in the blog section, as in the case of Takimag.
If Richard needs any ideas for a story he should check out one of Wisconsin’s university’s “White privelege” conferences. I would love to read about what those anti-white wack jobs do with their spare time.
In his intro video Richard Spencer describes a “new intellectual right wing” where “interesting and provocative voices” can “say things the establishment left and right don’t want to say” – a “constellation of different blogs” (ideologies, foreign policy, manliness, conservatism, politics, and more) that will “open up whole new vistas.” Wow!
I thought AlternativeAdaptation might work better – “Right” has *really* been used to death. And let’s face it, the new intellectual lineup isn’t really new and will probably be less than provocative – well, from my perspective.
I’m glad they have someplace to go, though. Sort of like Israel; better there than here. But what do I know? I tried three times to make out the opening joke and failed. Frum Forum? Was that it? I don’t get it. ??

Very timely Greg. I had been meaning to ask your writers (and others on other sites) for a precise definition of the “JQ” since I see the reference all the time but never have seen the question defined.
Brimelow, for example, has precisely defined the “National Question” at VDARE.
Traditional White nationalism in America use to be Paleo-Conservatism, but Paleo-Conservatism died out among white nationalist when George Lincoln Rockwell started to promote radicalism, Nazism in America in the 1960s.
Today, many whites are becoming less ideological and are staring defend the race and what matters. There are many whites who call themselves libertarian, conservative, and even liberal, but are white nationalist – racial connection is the only thing they share in common.
One day the mainstream is going to wake up and realize that white nationalism is slowly becoming the mainstream among whites.
If the mainstream had opened up to white concerned citizens 20 years ago there wouldn’t have been so many whites turning to fringe elements. The media/liberal/conservatives have made a serious misjudgment by linking white nationalism with Nazism and radicalism, by doing so they turned relatively normal mainstream white nationalist (of all political backgrounds) into Nazi Jew haters.
Many white nationalist became Jew haters because there was no mainstream White nationalist alternative.
The term “Alternative Right” makes little sense. What is “right” today?
The Jewish media spent three generations telling white people that being pro-white meant being “Nazi Jew hater” – and continue to do so.

This is true, as it should be. To me, race and culture are all that really matter. Political ideologies are just ways to advance these core values. If the interests of whites can best be served by being a Communist in one situation, then I’ll be a Communist. If the interests of whites can best be served by being a libertarian in another situation, I’ll be a libertarian. Political ideologies should just be a means to an end. Any ideological purist who believes that their political ideology is a means unto itself should be avoided as this will inevitably lead to situations where loyalty to an ideology will require disloyalty to the white race.

This is EXACTLY what is needed. There are so many options out there White People! Forget boring Neo-conism… and besides neo-conism is bad for your Race as well!

That is entirely True. I started out as a Paleo-con type as a Teen back in the ’90s. (Influenced by Pat Buchanans campaigns. Indeed my first real interest in socio-political issues was sparked by a Buchanan photo-op where he dressed up as a cowboy with some six-shooters… but he opted to wear a black hat… to be the ‘cool’ bad guy! ) As America has declined farther and farther since then I have moved further and further Right, learning and realizing that many of the Far Right Ideologues (Spengler, Yockey, and Evola) were right decades before I was even born!!!!

Yes. They could have let National Socialism ‘wither on the vine’. If that would have been allowed to happen then chances are NS would be a minor note in History texts alongside the National Syndicalism of Generalissimo Franco. BUT NO! The Nazi bogey-man has been brought up time and time again!
I enjoyed Elizabeth Wright’s cogent and timely essay on Sarah Palin. It is obvious that Ms. Palin is a simpleton whose convictions are no more than mind-numbing cliches and platitudes fed to her by Ms. Palin’s neocon handlers. But Ms. Wright exposes Palin as a cynical, greedy opportunist who will do anything to exploit her family for the next big pay-day.

Sounds like Spencer won’t be broaching the JQ at all from the way he answered Sunic. So, if he won’t be dealing with the foremost question of our time, why bother?

What are you talking about? Sunic asked him bluntly whether he would be broaching the subject and he basically said no. That would not be his focus. What are you talking about and what does Sailer have to do with this discussion?
The JQ is not his focus, but that does not mean that it will not be a topic. He said he would publish MacDonald. Sailer already dealt with it in his first piece on the site. Relax. Let’s see how this develops.

Unfortunately, Chronicles has become cartoonishly pro-Putin, as if neocommunism were not a serious problem in today’s Russia.
