The Aryan Values of Avatar

avatarThe film Avatar is a huge commercial and cultural success. In White Nationalist circles, however, the blockbuster often is labeled as anti-white. (See here, here, and here for examples.) This interpretation of the film illustrates four problems currently manifest in the White Nationalist movement:

  1. The tendency to see only skin color when discussing race;
  2. A lack of knowledge about Aryan values and Indo-European culture;
  3. A “white makes right” mentality that leads to the inability to self-criticize, even when whites act like blacks or Jews; and
  4. The recent proclivity of whites to play the victim, interpreting everything as an attack and claiming they’re not allowed to do anything.

The anti-white analysis of Avatar is a result of an over-simplified biological outlook that is focused only on skin color, and therefore lacks any awareness of Aryan and non-Aryan values. If whites hope to achieve any success in taking back their countries and culture, then we must learn to see beyond purely material interpretations and learn to recognize our own values and ideals when they are literally jumping out of the screen at us in 3-D.

Avatar is the story of RDA, the largest non-governmental corporation in the year 2154, which is looking for a rare mineral that sells for $20 million per kilogram. The corporation employs mercenaries that closely resemble America’s present-day army with goons and thugs of every color. They are mining the planet Pandora, and if the indigenous Na’vi will not relocate so RDA can harvest the motherload and thus score big money, the corporate execs and their army plan on killing the natives in cold blood.

Jewish Greed and Capitalism in Avatar

The greedy, capitalistic corporation represents the Jewish spirit that has overtaken American society. The mercenaries are of many races, and although Colonel Miles Quaritch is physically white, he does not have an Aryan character. Instead, he and several other corporate heads have the Semitic characteristics of spiritual degeneracy and being focused purely on material ends. The short, beady-eyed corporate administrator played by Giovanni Ribisi was almost a Jewish caricature.

These humans are incapable of understanding the Na’vi’s spirituality and think they are mere savages to be controlled so their land and religion can be plundered. The humans see everything as an economic unit, in contrast to the Na’vi, who believe all life is sacred and of value beyond economic profit. The corporate heads find it strange that the Na’vi won’t give up their sacred sites in exchange for blue jeans and light beer.

Another display of Jewishness is the corporate workers’ inability to understand the love between the hero and a Na’vi girl; instead, they insinuate that he was just having a cheap lay.

When the corporation does finally bomb the Na’vi’s sacred tree, the Na’vi fight back for “their land,” echoing the words of the Palestinian national anthem (“My country, my land, land of my ancestors”). When the Na’vi must flee, the scenes are comparable to those of the horrors inflicted on the Palestinians by Israel and the Americans who fight for the Jews.

The Na’vi’s Aryan Values

Unlike most of the RDA executives, the Na’vi display many characteristics associated with Indo-Europeans (and also other noble societies). Their tribes have a tripartite caste system as described by Georges Dumézil, with a warrior-chief, a shaman, and commoners (who also are warriors). They value strength, courage, and honor, the fundamental Aryan values.

The men must undergo an initiation of which Neytiri, the hero’s mate, says, “Every person is born twice. The second time is when you earn your place among the people forever.” The initiation echoes ceremonies common throughout Indo-European cultures, for as in other traditions, the Na’vi required an ascent to the floating islands, where a wild animal must be tamed.

Like the ancient Europeans, the main Na’vi tribe in the film is a group of hunter-gatherers, rather than Semitic nomads. They respect the land, rather than plundering it and then moving on. Also like European cultures in the past, the Na’vi allow women a relatively high position in the tribe and are not as xenophobic as the corporate workers with Jewish values. In addition, the Na’vi are not ruled by their animal passions as is common for many races; instead, they mate for life (a distinctly European trait).

The Na’vi are deeply spiritual and have a great respect for their environment, echoing the environmentalism of the pagans, Hindus, and in more recent times, the Romantics and the entire völkisch movement and National Socialist policies. According to the Aryan Nations website, the threefold Aryan duty is to the folk, to Nature, and to the Cosmos. It could be describing the Na’vi when it states: “This Aryan duty requires us to respect Nature, and the diverse creations of Nature. This means … striving to live in a balanced way by restraining our greed, our desire for material possessions, and by respecting the traditions, the culture, of our ancestors.”

Obviously there are Na’vi characteristics that do not fit the Aryan mold (their religion is more chthonic, for example), but they certainly possess more traditional Aryan qualities than the greedy human industrialists in the film.

The False Dichotomy of a ‘White Makes Right’ Mentality

The Na’vi share many characteristics with not only Aryans, but other great cultures as well. Many reviewers have pointed to similarities to Native Americans, for example. As White Nationalists, it is helpful to our cause to realize that Aryans are not the only great culture, and to not whine when we see other races portrayed in a good light.

A main issue that nationalist reviewers have with Avatar is its portrayal of white-skinned people as vicious colonialists. But the truth is that there have been times in history that our race has acted brutally. The treatment of the Native Americans, for example, is not the brightest chapter in white history, and we have been duly punished for it.

But clinging to the notion that “whites are always right” is false. We do not have to identify with members of our race who are traitors to Aryan values. Doing do makes us jump to a guilty defensive position every time whites behaving badly are onscreen. In fact, trying to explain away injustices with elaborate explanations makes whites seem like little children who won’t apologize just for the spite of it. Rather than try to justify acts of our ancestors who did not uphold the Aryan spirit of honor, we should move beyond the mistakes of the past and work to overcome them in the future. Playing the victim and complaining is better left to those who are less noble.

A Different Kind of Race Traitor

A scene at the end of the film resulted in a number of claims that Avatar is anti-white. The white colonel yells at the hero, “How does it feel to betray your race?” The implication many see is that the hero has betrayed the human race to fight for the aliens. But in fact, it is the colonel who has betrayed his race, and become Jewish in spirit. He is a military puppet, the way that many white thugs in the military are simply puppets for Israel. The hero, on the other hand, defends a people’s land and acts with honor, truth, and courage; as such, he is displaying the qualities of a true Aryan.

The corporation in Avatar, with its Jewish-like humans and mercenaries of many colors, is not simply “us” portrayed in a bad light; it is what we are fighting against—the takeover of our lands by greedy capitalists who would have our homes and culture destroyed for profit. They are the ones who do not understand our religions, who destroy our environment, and seek to erase the memory of our ancestors.

As the success of the film suggests, the general public is tired of this as well—people are still fascinated with epic myths, heroes, and men of honor, and like the Na’vi, wish they could fight against mindless capitalism. As such, some time spent thinking critically reveals that Avatar is not a “white guilt” film at all. It is a collective fantasy of taking back our land from the industrial machine and keeping our traditions alive. The popularity of Avatar gives us hope that people are ready to be wake up and fight for a just cause.

  1. Amen, Amanda. It’s about time someone else gave this movie the positive review it deserved. I think being under constant political siege has made us overly sensitive to anything that might be even remotely misconstrued as anti-White.

  2. Thats a nice way to look at it but I do not believe that’s what James Cameron had in mind with this movie, and 98% of white Americans do not even know what an Aryan is let alone Aryan values. The people that go and see this movie (and unfortunately a lot of them will see it) will know what the movie is about, and that’s all Cameron is concerned with, he’s not concerned about the average fool in this Country interpreting the way you did.

Although I do agree that capitalism is one of the biggest threats to our survival, culture, and our race. If there’s anything good about the movie I guess that it’s anti-capitalist (judging from what you have written; I haven’t seen the movie).

  3. Three insightful reviews by three young, intelligent White Nationalists (Ian, Pip Pockets, and Amanda Bradley) have convinced me to see the film Avatar. Well done.

(I see that we have another Jason here.)

A lot of films can be interpreted in many different ways by many different people. For example, if you are an anti-Semite you can see an anti-Semitic message in a movie that hardly anyone else would see. However, although I have not seen Avatar I find the claims that the movie is anti-white most persuasive. Any time you have a film about a mostly white imperial force waging war on an indigenous people you can usually be sure that the theme is an anti-white one. Anyway, I think that it’s safe to assume that James Cameron (who is probably a standard liberal on race) intended the movie to be anti-white and anti-Western.

And I also think that the scene at the end where the white colonel yells at the hero “How does it feel to betray your race?” really speaks for itself.

That being said, some people might be able to take a few good messages from the movie. Like the idea that there is much more to life than empty materialism, for example.

“But the truth is that there have been times in history that our race has acted brutally. The treatment of the Native Americans, for example, is not the brightest chapter in white history, and we have been duly punished for it.”

I really disagree with this sentiment. If our ancestors didn’t conquer this continent from the Native Americans then there never would have been an America, and you would be currently living in whatever tiny European country your ancestors came from. Your false and misguided moralism would have had us cede the entire world to other races. And unlike you they would have had no qualms about taking it.

  5. Amen, Jason Powers. In stories open to interpretation people often see what they want to see rather than what the author intended. As an intellectual flight of fancy, Amanda Bradley’s essay is interesting. However, I do not think it an accurate picture
of the message Cameron wanted the viewer to see. This is, after all, Hollywood we’re talking about here.

  6. Whether Avatar is pro-white or anti-white is a question that can be debated into the night. But we can all recognize that it is one of the species of the modeling movie issued frequently by the urban-coastal class nestled in its little nooks & crannies from which its members seek to direct our attitudes toward one or another demographic or calamity.

Modeling is an extremely important element in our silencing because artificial dramas are arranged to tell us whom to spurn, whom to denounce, whom to hate, and whom to arrange our lives like. The scenes presented from frame to frame provide a lot of information to us about how the media propaganda wants us to think and act. Such a film doesn’t necessarily have to be pro-white or anti-white to reinforce well-honed attitudes now in place.

A real life experience would be to compare the media treatment of Amy Biehl’s parents after her death by South African thugs (the parents graciously forgave the thugs) with the media treatment of the parents of Christopher Newsom and Channon Christian (who weren’t so forgiving). That is, even parental responses to murder are modeled for us to follow, some praised and some silenced.

By the middle of Avatar the entire audience knows who the good guys are and who the bad guys are, whom we should model ourselves on, and whom we should go to great lengths to avoid modeling ourselves on.

Modeling is a tactical technique that white activists need to consistently consider, especially when presenting information to younger wanna-be white activists. They see what we do, whom we reach out to, and whom we scorn. Every word that white activists pump into the e-atmosphere models attitudes, feelings, vocabularies, and styles of presentation that have long-lasting effect.

For example, when young diverse white kids see a group like the local Committee of 100 Black Men lobby the school for more services to black kids, and no similar effort by white adults for white kids, they understand that they are “less than” in this social order. When the white kids are dismissed a half-hour early because the black, brown, and yellow kids are having ethnicity-based club meetings, they understand what that means, too.

And the young white kids have heard quite enough of the one-sided model of history that posits the diverse white people as savages confronting an indigenous, peaceful people who just happen to have taken the land from another tribe which got it the same way. North America was a bloody battle-ground for centuries and centuries. The kids get a solid, hateful dose of that model in the third, seventh, and tenth grades in California.

  7. Yes, this movie is about the triumph of a culture of life over a culture of death. The multicult stormtroopers (who seem to possess no history or culture of their own) force their way onto another people’s territory and expect the natives to bow down in servitude as their home, people, and culture are destroyed and overrun by an obviously inferior race. The humans in this movie are clearly a parasitic race, whose concern is not the propagation of life, but its destruction – and for what? Status and comfort? The humans in this film are both blind and ignorant.

My only qualm with endorsing Avatar fully is that the Na’vi are too anti-technological in disposition. Aryans should understand that the purpose of technology is to propagate life. Such a synthesis was missing from the film, but was perhaps implicit in the film’s contradictions (these are rather obvious).

  8. What’s wrong with seeking power?

Maybe I read the wrong book, but I thought at least some of the branches of Indo-Europeans were cattle raiders and known to plunder the villages/settlements of agrarians.

    Ourselves alone.

  9. This was an excellent review of “Avatar,” definitely the best one I have read thus far.

Was this film review written exclusively for TOQO or does ‘Amanda Bradley’ have a blog or website of her own? If so I would like to visit and read it regularly.

Relatedly, you all might be interested that I recently wrote about working to recreate the White/Western elite and to revive the traditional Indo-European tripartite social system @ http://whitesurvival.wordpress.com/2009/12/21/rebuilding-the-whitewestern-elite-plus-various-musings-on-not-so-fair-modern-albion-and-the-current-state-of-her-white-stock/

  10. Hey guys,

Ever heard of a false dichotomy?

You know this movie doesn’t have to be either 100% pro-white or 100% anti-white.

  11. Nice review, and interesting comments.

I found myself agreeing with Amanda’s thoughts on a few things but not as they applied to the movie. For a simple reason. As Terry Gilliam once said in so many words, Hollywood is about money; Hollywood is a business. It has nothing at all to do with Art. Propaganda yes, Art, no.

It’s out to make money and has thousands of people who are all very well paid working around the clock to churn out movies with enough of the all important features of Story and Character to justify lots of Eye Candy in the form of special effects and snappy photography and direction.

Also, just in case that’s not enough, we are bludgeoned over the head with the Cult of Celebrity that shines an eternal flame on a shallow personality to distract us from the superficial principles that drives the whole thing, and conceals the real motives of those principles — to shame the largest demographic of paying movie-goers into emasculation, infantilization and, above all, deracination.

Hollywood operates out of principle of quantity over quality, of mass production. One of the keys to that is the ready-made, cookie-cutter, freeze-dried template.
Their template concerning us is very simple and there isn’t much variation. Though occasionally they do throw us a bone, like Training Day, for example.

I agree with her about some key points she makes. So much so that some of her article reads like one of my posts.

But not as those points apply to this movie. Simply because Hollywood has been all about chipping away at Whites and for a while now they are taking whole chunks. No doubt inspired by our inability to do anything about.

They are not going to miss out on an opportunity to continue to do this by keeping that anti-White theme out of a giant blockbuster!

It has to be kept firmly in mind that Jewish Supremacism, though now entirely victorious in terms of finance, information, and control of the major institutions, is in defense mode because of the Internet. DefCon 5 defense mode.

With this movie they can placate the Tea Party masses while getting in their anti-White message. I think it’s pretty transparent. Devilishly clever, but transparent none the less.

  12. The attitude displayed by Amanda is increasingly common in WN circles. It seems to be based on a composite worldview, consisting of a pacifist version of National Socialism, Isolationism, and Luddism. I find it defeatist and sad, coming from the race that brought the world the Industrial Revolution, modern science and technology, and conquered the continents and is now reaching for the planets.

As a result of growing complacent, our race is currently on the retreat and must fight a defensive fight, but to make that circumstance a goal in itself and to let it drain the life force out of us is pathetic. The day we stop conquering and advance, we will die.

To label the White conquest of America a bad thing, is fit only for liberals and others with a slave mentality. As for National Socialism, I wonder what ‘ole Adolf would have said about being so darn nice to primitive races?

  13. Lets face it Amanda’s views are that of a woman so they will tend to the sensitive and emotional. Where they veer off into suicidal tripe that is the line she must not cross, other than that they are fine, and such feelings are to be considered a virtue amongst our women. Otherwise we are not who we are and we end up like Africans or the hive of Orientalism.

  14. So Hollywood are now producing pro-white films?

  15. Still, I would not let a child watch this movie. They would easily begin to associate the Na’vi with the dreadlocked freedumb fighters of anti-white resistance. The huge, steel-blue eyed Aryan corporal even made me queasy.

  16. Nordicreb, I take it your version of nationalism entails jingoist militarism and an industrialist rejection of traditionalism?

Russel D. Moore wrote “If you can get a theater full of people in Kentucky to stand and applaud the defeat of their country in war, then you’ve got some amazing special effects”. Moore is an idiot. The only references to America in the movie were blatantly positive; the evil force was a multicultural corporation, not a nation or a people. If Cameron had wanted to make a movie about America, there would have been nothing to stop him.

Furthermore, If Cameron wanted to make an anti-White movie, he could’ve. He could’ve made all (or at least the majority) of the corporate thugs white. He could’ve had humans referred to as “pale people” instead of “sky people”. There was no elaborate propaganda message.

I disagree with Amanda on one point – that negative analysis of this movie results from an over-simplified outlook on skin color. That might be true, but given that the majority of mercenaries in the film were not even white, I think the diagnosis is simpler: paranoia.

  17. “Amy Biehl’s parents after her death by South African thugs (the parents graciously forgave the thugs)”

I know nothing of this case, but I’m guessing Amy Biehl’s parents REALLY hated her?

  18. I agree that people want to fight for right. That is why we need to stop the Jewish Juggernaut from defining everything in terms good for them and bad for us. In this quote:

“A scene at the end of the film resulted in a number of claims that Avatar is anti-white. The hero, on the other hand, defends a people’s land and acts with honor, truth, and courage; as such, he is displaying the qualities of a true Aryan.”

We might know this, but most people do not know what these qualities are, they just have feelings and affinities within. They do not rationalize or even know about jews for the most part. They are open to definitions of good and bad because in the past these definitions were given by their OWN people and helped them adapt. Instead, today, we have Jews who use these natural tendencies, affinities and feelings within along with our flexibilities, to condition us to do things and fight for things which are NOT in our best interests — even for destructive things. This is their forte. They take good emotions, good intentions and condition them to serve their own destructive purposes, while gaining power and resources.

This shows how it is imperative that we warn our people about Jews and also that we live only among our own kind to preserve our authentic values.

“The day we stop conquering and advance, we will die.”

Nordicreb, that is simply not true. There is a time in the lifespan of a people for conquering and acquiring resources; and another time for cultivating the resources that one acquires. A relentlessly conquering mindset almost inevitably will be insensitive to the lands and peoples it is conquering, and will waste or otherwise foolishly use acquired resources. A relentlessly conquering mindset is characteristic of an empire with a short life-span.

When the white colonel in the film yelled “how does it feel to betray your race?” I assumed Cameron was suggesting that he was referring to whites. This is what whites are associated with: the development of technology and capitalism as ultimate values. Of course, there were the good whites, the heroic whites, interested in science, sensitive to beauty and life, opposed to injustice. The heroic liberals!

It would be good to talk more about the topic of “Aryan environmentalism in the present world-situation.” What is the proper white nationalist attitude towards environmental stewardship? Most people seem to think that having as many kids as possible is about the most important thing whites can do for the future. I agree replacement birth rates are important. But surely that can go too far, and surely there are other important issues as well.

My suspicion is that any discussion of “Aryan environmentalism” among white nationalists would lead to a lot of disagreement. But still, it is a conversation worth having. If for no other reason than that the environmental movement is where a lot of important people are: ordinary white people who care about the future.

  20. Parasitic techno-capitalist-apocalyptic imperialism is alien to the noble spirit of Northern Europeans.

Avatar upholds the correct values, as Amanda points out very well. Those whose knee-jerk reaction is to hate the movie because it goes against the values of our current post-modern culture, or to assume a priori “It is of Hollywood, therefore it can’t be true,” should examine their souls.

The heroes of Avatar who (rightly) betrayed the small contingent of mindless, soulless, imperialist destroyer-humans, are an example for all of us Europeans who are tired of living under the regime of alien values.

Before the Jewish-Roman conquest of Europe via Christianity, Europeans weren’t so confused about what technology was harmonious with life and what technology was not.
Most of our technology today is completely moronic, and that’s because our minds have been infected with a death-loving alien value system.

    I’m tired of it.
